Local Lad Jordan Perez Joins Newstalk’s Anton Savage to Kickstart Route 66 Charity Event

Sixmilebridge’s own Jordan Perez, joined forces with Anton Savage, ambassador for Route 66 2024 and popular Newstalk personality, along with longstanding Route 66 motorcyclists outside CHI at Temple Street last week. Their mission was to officially launch the recruitment drive for the highly anticipated 2024 Route 66 challenge.

Jordan, who is well-known locally, has been receiving exceptional care at Temple Street since January, following some complications. Being very grateful for he excellent care, he eagerly embraced the opportunity to pay something forward and hopes that his participation will benefit others in the future. In his characteristic lighthearted manner, he also expressed the hope that someone might even reward his efforts with a new iPhone – doesn’t God love a chancer? The Route 66 challenge, a bi-annual journey aimed at raising vital funds for the Children’s Health Foundation, has been a remarkable tradition since its inception in 2002. Spanning a total of 14 days, this thrilling adventure will take our dedicated bikers and pillions through nine states and four different time zones. Beginning in Illinois, they will traverse Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, and finally reach their destination in sunny California.

To be part of this magical experience, participants must possess a full motorcycle driver’s license and, most importantly, a passion for fundraising. Our dedicated bikers are encouraged to raise €10,000 in support of this once-in-a-lifetime challenge. While this may initially seem like a daunting task, let’s put it into perspective – that’s just 100 people donating €100 each! Suddenly, the goal doesn’t seem so insurmountable, does it?

Since its inception, this awe-inspiring fundraising initiative has successfully raised over €5 million for the benefit of sick children. The impact of this remarkable journey can be seen throughout the various CHI hospitals and urgent care centers. Thanks to the generosity of our big-hearted bikers, critical wards have been redeveloped, and essential life-saving equipment has been purchased.
